Writing for Publication
Course Level: College Level
Hybrid Course Format:
TWO DAY INTENSIVE: 10 hours of class time (not including breaks)
VIRTUAL ONLINE DISCUSSIONS: One weeknight per week (1.5 hours)
Do you sense that you're supposed to publish something? In today’s world, published writers need two main things: 1) Well articulated good content; 2) A platform from which to get found. In this course students will be resourced with basic teaching meant for improving their writing skills and also practical tips for marketing your book. Students will be familiarized with the publishing world, and guided as they think about which publisher to sign on with, and whether or not to self-publish. They will also be taught how to think theologically about any imaginable topic, including the act of writing itself.
Key Questions To Be Explored:
What is the main message of my book?
How do I get published? Should I hire an agent?
What is the best way to get “found”? How do I get my contribution out there?
What marketing materials do I need to be producing?
What questions do I need to be asking myself as I write?
