Our Story
In the summer of 2011, several university faculty members and educational leaders urged Dr. Sarah Sumner to start a seminary. To her, the idea of birthing what would become Right On Mission seemed as absurd as the biblical Sarah giving birth to Isaac. Yet Providence prevailed.
Soon afterward, Dr. Sumner unexpectedly found herself at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University being equipped as a global change agent. In 2013 and 2014, she was invited—by exclusive invitation—to join leading innovators at The Next New World conference in Silicon Valley, hosted by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times.
Rather than launching another accredited institution, Dr. Sumner chose to innovate a way to offer more affordable, theologically rich, disciplemaking opportunities. She and a team of faculty developed graduate-level training and advanced discipleship designed to help Christian decision-makers stay on mission—not drift off mission.
On April 21, 2015, the vision became reality. For ten years Right On Mission offered over 70 courses, 9 Vocational Certificate programs, and an MDIV Equivalent.
In July 2025, Right On Mission pivoted to broaden its scope by developing a subscription service that eliminates financial barriers so that anyone seeking Christ can gain high level training with others in real time interactively. What we now refer to as, “ROM 2.0” is slated to be unveiled in January 2026.
