Faithful direction requires more than good intentions or technical skill.
It requires knowledge, sound judgment, and clarity about why the organization exists. Right On Mission forms leaders and boards to exercise authority responsibly, discern wisely under pressure, and make decisions with moral courage that keep the organization aligned long-term with its God-given purpose.
GOVERNANCE FORMATION
Governance Formation is suited for Christian Boards navigating complexity, resistance, or high-stakes decision-making. Board members are trained and theologically resourced with savvy (what Scripture calls “binah”) to reignite mission and remain on course when opportunity, pressure, public scrutiny, or internal conflict threaten to steer the entity off mission.
LEADERSHIP FORMATION
Leadership Formation strengthens leaders to think Christianly, discern wisely, and exercise authority with integrity. We help leaders clarify their moral agency and recognize the moral weight of their decisions—especially when the path forward is costly or contested.
Dr. Sarah Sumner is known for her willingness to name hard truths when course correction is required—and for possessing the resolve to lead change that others recognize as necessary but feel unequipped to undertake.
Her track record reflects this capacity. While serving as Dean of A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary at Simpson University, Dr. Sumner assembled and led a team that set three all-time records for enrollment and financial performance in the school’s 34-year history. Under her leadership, a seminary long regarded as a financial liability became a strategic asset positioned to contribute to the university’s long-term fiscal health.
In a separate role as Board Chair for a high-profile nonprofit organization facing significant internal strain, Dr. Sumner led a disciplined institutional reset that renewed organizational culture. The result was a successful turnaround marked by a fivefold budget increase and expanded support from churches and donors.
Dr. Sumner specializes in training new boards and in equipping senior leaders and board members to establish or reconstitute institutional culture, clarify mission, and guide their organizations into seasons of renewed stability and uncommon fruitfulness.
