WEBINAR - The Impact of Religious Freedom on Women Leaders

DESCRIPTION - At the heart of the American experiment lies the principle of religious freedom--that freedom not simply to worship God in private, but to practice religion openly and freely in public and through established institutions. How does religious freedom impact women? Does it restrict them or release them? How does the free practice of Christianity, in particular, impact women? What does the future likely hold regarding religious freedom in America? Come join the discussion by interacting with Dr. Lyon herself as she speaks from her vast experience as past head of a denomination, founder of World Hope International, and General Superintendent Emerita and Ambassador of the Wesleyan Church.

BIOGRAPHY - Dr. Jo Anne Lyon is currently serving as the Ambassador of The Wesleyan Church. This position was specifically created by the General Board of The Wesleyan Church to retain the considerable connections and influence of Dr. Lyon given her long and faithful service as General Superintendent of the Wesleyan denomination. In addition, she is the founder of World Hope International. As CEO of World Hope based in Alexandria, VA, Jo Anne Lyon directed faith-based relief and development into over 30 countries to alleviate suffering and injustice.

She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling, continued graduate studies in Historical Theology and has been granted five honorary doctorates. She is the recipient of the 2016 World Methodist Peace Award, and the 2017 Keeper of the American Dream Award in 2017.
