Course Description:
It is sometimes said that a person has a good legal mind or scientific mind. Likewise, references have been made to the American mind or Communist mind. But what does it mean to have a Christian mind? C.S. Lewis’ star student, Harry Blamires, lamented, “There is no longer a Christian mind.” Is there such a thing as a Christian mind? What does it mean to think Christianly? This is a watershed course that teaches students how to think in ways that most churchgoers are not taught. It’s a course that teaches students how to begin to take every thought captive to Christ.
Key Questions To Be Explored:
What does it mean to think Christianly?
Can both a Protestant and a Catholic think Christianly? If so, how?
What does it mean to love God with all your mind?
What is the interplay between intellectual formation and spiritual formation?
How does “thinking Christianly” relate to having the moral courage to do what God says is right?
