Oration is the art of speaking well.  What you get is a mentor who turns you over time into an orator, a person who communicates persuasively in meetings, negotiations, classrooms, conferences and sermons.  Because it is possible in seminary to earn an academic “A” in preaching class, but still be ineffective in the pulpit, we train people outside of the classroom to communicate as orators who deliver moving messages that stick.
